Born in Sigourney, Iowa, at age ten, Fr. Michael Weldon moved with his family to Arizona from the Midwest. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School in l971, he entered the pre-novitiate program for the West – Coast Franciscans at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Graduation from Arizona State University brought credentials for High School teaching with additional work in the field of addictions and recovery. Professed as a Franciscan friar in l976 in Sacramento, California, and ordained presbyter in June of l981, Fr. Mike’s principal placements have been in secondary education, retreat, vocational recruitment, urban parochial ministry, and graduate theological education.
